XMOR originally was a
Top 40 outlet with English-language music and Spanish-speakingDJ s until they changed to a Spanishmodern rock format in1994 as MORE-FM. In June2003 MEC took over the station and in February2004 flipped it to a bilingualHispanic Rhythmic using the slogan "Hip-hop y más." But by summer2004 they went in an English-language Rhythmic direction and changed their moniker to Blazin' 98.9 FM. The move put them in direct competition with XHITZ-FM, a move that would have a lasting effect on the latter in terms of ratings and listeners.Programming
