Beyoncé Knowles , was the female counterpart toAustin Powers in the third Austin Powers film; "Austin Powers in Goldmember ".Austin Powers in Goldmember
Her character is a
parody of characters in "blaxploitation " films such as "Foxy Brown" and "Cleopatra Jones ", both of which the character are named after. She also could be a parody of the bond girlRosie Carver from the James Bond blaxploitation inspired film "Live and Let Die." As such, her clothing style is reminiscent of thedisco era and her hair is in the "afro " style of the time; though she did adopted a braided dread lock style when she and Austin infiltrated Roboto's domain. Foxxy frequently uses theslang term "sugar", walks in a sexy manner, and shouts "Sha-zam!" when delivering a blow in a fight. Due to her flamboyant nature, she is very cocky and prone to overconfidence - which often leads opponents catching her off-guard; such as Goldmember, who managed to escape her grasp (as well as embarrass her) several times in the movie by kicking her in the face.Like the previous film, "", the plot involved
time travel . Austin is in pursuit ofDoctor Evil and his accomplice,Goldmember , through time. At Goldmember’sdiscotheque in 1975, Austin encounters Foxxy, who is one of Goldmembers beautiful girls, where she is performing (singing a piece derived from a number of songs byKC and the Sunshine Band ). After Foxxy completes her song, she and Austin speak through anintermediary played byNathan Lane , a spoof of a similar scene in "After the Fox ".Unlike the previous two Austin Powers films, Foxxy Cleopatra did not
seduce Powers on screen, although it is clear from their conversation in the disco that the two characters had a romantic liaison sometime in the past.External links
