Batasan Hills is a barangay located in the 2nd District of Quezon City, Philippines. It borders the barangays of Payatas, Commonwealth and Bagong Silangan to the north, Barangay Holy Spirit to the west, Barangay Old (Matandang) Balara to the south, and the town of San Mateo, Rizal to the east. Two major government establishments are located in the barangay, these are the Batasang Pambansa and Sandiganbayan. The current barangay captain is Ranulfo "Rannie" Z. Ludovica. Background

The barangay was established in 1983 with the name Constitution Hills in reference to the Batasang Pambansa which is located in the barangay. The barangay was to be home of many government establishments as there were plans to move the capital from Manila to Quezon City, but the capital remained in Manila and the barangay was renamed Batasan Hills. Today, most of Batasan Hills is residential. Batasan Hills has one of the largest urban poor populations in the country as most of the residents are living in poor houses. But there are also residential parts for the middle and upper class like Filinvest 1 and 2, Northview 1 and 2, and Treviso which were developed by real estate firm Filinvest Land [ [http://www.filhomes2.com Filinvest 2 Website] ] . Buildings and structures

The barangay holds two major government establishments namely the Batasang Pambansa which houses the House of Representatives or Congress, and the Sandiganbayan which is one of the major courts in the country. The Ever Gotesco Commonwealth mall is also located in the barangay. A Convergy's site is also located in Commonwealth Avenue. The Commission on Audit is also located besides Sandiganbayan. Also the St. Peter's Parish located along Commonwealth Avenue is located in the barangay. A Convergy's site is also located neighboring the St. Peter's Parish. Also the Civil Service Commission and the Department of Social Welfare and Development are also located in the barangay.

Roads/Bridges

There are three major roads inside the barangay, these are Commonwealth Avenue which is the widest road in the Philippines at 18 lanes (9 on both sides), the Batasan (IBP) Road which is the main route in to the barangay, Also the road has a tunnel which connects the southbound side of the road to Commonwealth Avenue. The third major route is the Batasan-San Mateo Road, Batasan Hills which connects the barangay to the town of San Mateo, Rizal where the Batasan-San Mateo Bridge in the Marikina River connects the two areas. Also there are smaller roads like Filinvest 2 Road which connects with the Batasan-San Mateo Road, Batasan Hills and the Filinvest 1 Road which connects with Batasan Road.
