The Louisiana Scholars' College at Northwestern State University prides itself on being Louisiana's designated four-year, selective-admissions honors college in the liberal arts and sciences.
History
The Scholars' College was established in 1987 as the state's only designated honors college by the Louisiana State Legislature as the state's official honors college. The College offers students the opportunity to pursue their academic and personal goals in a supportive atmosphere.
Curriculum
The backbone of the Scholars' College curriculum is the Texts and Traditions course, a great-books based course that combines literature and history to give a complete picture of the history and culture of western society.
Students can major or minor in just about any specialization offered by the University, or a student can choose to major in the College's specialized Liberal Arts degree.
Students can also choose one of five concentrations to accompany that degree:
-Humanities and Social Thought
-Scientific Inquiry
-History and Philosophy of Science
-Fine and Performing Arts
-Foreign Languges
