KSTR-TV, channel 49, is a Spanish-language general entertainment television station in Irving, Texas, serving the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. It is currently owned by Univision, and broadcasts as a TeleFutura affiliate.

History

As KLTJ-TV (Keep Looking To Jesus,) the station ran Christian teaching programming from Trinity Broadcasting Network from March 1984 to September 1986. The station was then sold to the Home Shopping Network and switched to Shop at Home programs from HSN as KHSX.

The KLTJ call letters were reused twice for stations in Houston, Texas: from 1987 to 1989 on independent channel 57 (now KAZH), and since 1989 on channel 22, a Daystar affiliate. (The three stations have no other connection.)

Silver King owned the HSN stations, and USA Broadcasting bought them by 1996. In 1999, USA Broadcasting switched the station to a general entertainment format under the call sign KSTR-TV (Meaning "K-Star") with cartoons, reality shows, sitcoms, talk shows, and movies. During this period, it was the official Dallas/Fort Worth station for Dallas Mavericks Basketball.

In 2001, USA planned to sell KSTR to ABC-Disney, but Univision outbid its competition in a close race, thus it was changed to a TeleFutura affiliate in 2002. KSTR's English programming though would move to former Telemundo affiliate KFWD. All Dallas Mavericks games were moved to KTXA.
