1996 , is hosted by Chris Wallace. The show, which predates the launch ofFox News Channel , usually talks about items similar toSunday morning talk shows . The program is broadcast on the Fox network at 9:00 AM ET (although many stations broadcast it later) and is re-broadcasted Sunday evening onFox News Channel at 2:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. ET (in the slot typically occupied bySpecial Report with Brit Hume on the weekdays). The show is also broadcast in SDTV widescreen when it is shown first on the Fox Network if digital broadcasting is available for the Fox affiliate. In August 2008, the show is slated to become the third Sunday morning talk show in high definition in conjunction with Fox News Channel's upgrades to the format, following This Week with George Stephonopolous, and Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer. [ [http://www.tvpredictions.com/newssunday042008.htm Fox News Sunday Going HD In August ] ]The first minute or so of the broadcast runs down the day's headlines (Fox, unlike its competitors, does not have a full morning show to lead into "Fox News Sunday", as this is the only regularly-scheduled news program produced for the Fox network). For the rest of the first half of the show, Wallace interviews newsmakers from the prior week.
During the second half of the show, Wallace introduces a panel of four pundits to speak about the political impact of the news. Regular members of the panel include
Brit Hume , "Weekly Standard " editorWilliam Kristol andNational Public Radio correspondentsMara Liasson andJuan Williams . ColumnistsCharles Krauthammer andFred Barnes , "Fortune" Washington bureau chiefNina Easton , "Washington Examiner" reporterBill Sammon and "Washington Post" reporterCeci Connelly also appear on the panel on a limited basis.Originally hosted through 2003 by
Tony Snow , who later becameWhite House Press Secretary , the program celebrated its tenthanniversary in April2006 .Overall, the program is the second-lowest rated of the big five Sunday talk shows (ahead of only
Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer ) due in part to the fact that the show does not have the benefit of a lead-in like its competitors; however, it is popular in Washington, DC, its prime time replay onFox News Channel frequently wins its time slot among cable news outlets and the viewership of the FNC replay often approaches the number of viewers who watch it first-run on the FOX network. The program is also rebroadcast on a small but growing number of radio affiliates, mostly owned by
Clear Channel Communications , which is the largest station group running the division'sFox News Radio newscasts. As of August 24, 2008 Fox News Sunday is broadcasting in
High Definition . This will be the second Sunday morning show to make the switch after This Week with George StephanopoulosReferences
