University of Maryland, College Park where he played on the men’s soccer team from 1987 to 1990.Professional
In 1991, Garvey had a trial with
Coventry City F.C. but was not offered a contract. He returned to the United States and signed with theMiami Freedom of theAmerican Professional Soccer League . After eight games, he was traded to theAlbany Capitals where he went to the APSL championship game.
