Marco Fortes (born 26 September 1982 in Lisbon) is a male shot putter from Portugal. His personal best throw is 20.69 meters, achieved in June at the 2010 Ibero-American Championships in San Fernando, Spain.[1] This is the current Portugal record.
He competed at the 2008 World Indoor Championships and the 2008 Olympic Games without reaching the finals.
He became famous for jokingly stating "I only function properly in the afternoon. Mornings are only good to lie in bed" after under-performing on a morning sporting event at the 2008 Olympics. After that he was expelled from the Olympic Committee.
