Affinity credit card scheme

An affinity credit card program is a marketing program which enables a designated organization to earn a small percentage of all transactions on the credit card.Fact|date=December 2007 This payment is funded by the issuing bank, which typically will also pay a bonus for each new account generated by the program.

University alumni associations, professional associations, and sports teams are all popular affinity credit card partners.Fact|date=December 2007

MBNA was the pioneer of affinity credit card schemes, but its parent Bank of America has recently begun terminating most of its smaller affinity card programs.Fact|date=December 2007

A new provider of affinity Visa programs, CardPartner.com has stepped into the breach and is enabling smaller affinity groups to market custom Visa programs to their supporters.
