We’ve Got Married is a popular television program in South Korea. It was started in March 2008 and it is one of the programs of ‘Sunday Sunday Night’(program title) in MBC. This program places eight famous Korean stars in the position of four newly wed couples.
ynopsis
‘We’ve Got Married’ totally depends on its star cast, rather than unknown individuals; which is usual for Korean reality shows as opposed to U.S. reality shows. The cast improvises scenarios such as: 'going on a picnic' and 'making a lunch for their spouse'. The audience enjoys watching the stars' private life and seeing what celebrity life is. Every episode, the four couples start to open their minds to their unfamiliar husband or wife and develop some feelings towards their partner, like a real marriage.
Cast
1) Andy & Solby: This couple was selected by audience as the most compatible couple in real life. Andy is a well known member of "Idol group" as 'Shinwha', and Solby is the lead vocal performer of 'Typhoon'.
2) Crow J & Seo In Young: they are very unique couple. They are very interested in shoes, bags, clothes and this couple treats their shoes and clothes as a baby. At first, they often had arguments about differences in opinion but now the couple is living in harmony.
3) Alex & Sinae: The most romantic but unrealistic couple. Sinae is very beautiful and girlish and Alex gives careful consideration of Sinae. He prepares many things to impress his spouse.
4) Kim Hyeon Jung & Hwang bo: This couple is very trendy. The bride is eight years older than the groom. At first the couple was very awkward and had a hard time to get close, but now they have adjusted to each other and spent fun time together.
Reception
'We've Got Married' has been criticized by the audience. The couple's marriage is little more than an ideal life, they did not show normal marriage life. The young audience may confuse real marriage life with an ideal one. The show features men-centered scenarios and housewives are "delicate" to their husband. In moderndays, women and men are treated equally; however this show presents stereotype sex roles. This programs records high popularity rating after show has been broadcast. The audience is satisfied, so people expect similar proceedings for coming episodes.
