Gardetto's

Gardetto's

Gardetto's is a brand of snack mix that is owned by General Mills, which also owns the similar Chex Mix. It was acquired from family ownership in 1999. According to its packaging, The Gardetto Family Bakery was founded in 1932 by Baptiste Gardetto. It was at the bakery that Judy Gardetto took the trimmings of breadsticks and mixed them in along with other snack bits and a blend of special seasonings. The mix quickly became a family favorite and soon a hit with customers.

Today, Gardetto's is still sold in its original recipe as well as in reduced fat original, Italian recipe, Italian cheese blend and a deli-style mustard pretzel mix. Each bag of Gardetto's contains about 5 grams of trans fat, along with a large number of ingredients, including wheat gluten, tamarind, monosodium glutamate, BHT, and caramel color.
