Dooradoyle is in the Parish of St Paul, (City Parish) in the Diocese of Limerick. St Paul's was formerly part of the parish of Mungret/Raheen/Crecora and was created in 1971.
In Irish, Dooradoyle is “Tuar an Daill”, which means “The Bleach-Green of the blind man”.
Dooradoyle is a rapidly-growing, and predominantly middle-class suburb of Limerick, Ireland. Several attempts have been made by the Limerick City Council to expand this area of control to include Castletroy / Raheen, which is currently administered by Limerick County Council. It is located South west of Limerick City on the old N20 road, Now called the St Nessan Road. It is the Home of the New County Hall Building which is next to the Crescent Shopping Centre. It holds Limerick largest Cinema with 12 screens, the Omniplex. It is next to the biggest shopping centre.
