Blindlight are an alternative rock band, who formed in Skipton,(Leeds) North Yorkshire, UK in 2006. The band comprises Damien Selby (lead vocals, guitar, and piano), and Gareth Kent (bass, and synths).

History

Formation (2006)

The band originally came together in 2006, after Damien had decided to leave his old band Everyday Formula because he wanted to concentrate on a project, with songs he had been busy writing in the last few months before he departed. Damien teamed up with some local musicians and began rehearsing these songs which he then took to the local gig circuit. Towards the end of 2006 Damien drafted in Gareth Kent(whom he knew from his schooldays) to play bass, and Mike Butler (his work colleague) to play drums permanently. The beginning of 2007 was spent on writing some new songs and finally hitting the studio in March to record the band's first demo "Blindlight". The band then played some gigs to promote the demo and get the name out there. Playing gigs in and around the area in Leeds, Sheffield and Wakefield the band received a positive response wherever they played. Armed with more confidence and a tight setlist of songs the band rehearsed more and wrote some more songs to improve the setlist. In October 2007 the band headed over to Manchester to record their second demo "Waiting Room". The sound production of the demo was greatly improved over the first and showed some of the band's best material.
