The Wave (board)

The Wave (board)

A waveboard or wave boardor hi-tide is similar to a skateboard, but built on a riding system called a caster board. The board rides on two independently pivoting platforms, each with a one-wheel caster. Thus, each wheel is able to rotate 360°. The platforms are connected by a torsion bar that allows them to pivot about the X–axis. The wave board is a skateboard, snowboard, and a surfboard all in one. __NOTOC__

Movement

A waveboard is also known as street surfing. It can be distinguished from most other boards by its method of propulsion — the rider pushes his back foot forwards and backwards, or moves the whole board in a transverse wave motion or in a S motion. This type of propulsion is also used by snakeboards (whose two platforms pivot about the Y axis), although the dynamics are different. This form of propulsion allows the user to move uphill as well as downhill without taking your foot off the board like what you do on the skateboard. The wave board is the first company to make wave boards.

Turning with a waveboard differs from the conventional turning method on a skateboard; the rider must flex the front of the board in the direction they wish to turn. To make a sharper turn, the rider must flex the back of the board in the opposite direction as well as flexing the front of the board to the direction desired.

Apparel

When you go wave boarding you should wear a comfortable shirt and pants/ shorts. Safety pads and helmets are always recommended; however, the most important part of wave boarding is in the shoes one wears. One should not wear shoes with an arch, since skateboarding shoes are the best for wave boarding.
