James H. Manning (1862–1929) was a major league baseball player. Though he was primarily an outfielder, Manning was an early utility player, playing games at three infield positions (second base, shortstop, and third base) throughout his career. He played four years in the National League with the Boston Beaneaters and the Detroit Wolverines, then played one year in the American Association with the Kansas City Cowboys. He managed the Washington Senators in their inaugural season (mlby|1901).
