Olympic medal record Competitor for Netherlands Women's Sailing Silver 2008 Beijing Yngling class Mandy Mulder (born August 3, 1987, Poeldijk) is a Dutch sailor.
Mulder started sailing in 1995 and competes in international level since 2001 where she started in the Optimist class.[1] At the European Championship in Gran Canaria she finished on a 10th position.[1] She took part in the 2002 Laser 4.7 World Junior Championship where she won the bronze medal.[1] She won silver at the European Junior Championship Laser Radial in Breitenbrunn.[1] In Madeira during the World Junior Championship in Laser Radial she only finished in 13th position.[1]
At the Open Dutch Championships in 2003 she took part in 470 Class and her team finished as the second female team.[1] In Balatón she finished 7th in the European Junior Championship and at the World Championship at Lake Garda she finished 9th.[1] She took another silver at the 2004 Open Dutch Championships.[1] As of 2005 she sails in the yngling class and was part of the Dutch national team selection straight away. At the 2005 World Championship in Mondsee she and her team finished 21st.[1] She won bronze medals at the Open Dutch Championships as well as at the Princess Sofia Trophy in Mallorca.[1] After a 12th position at the World Championships in La Rochelle a third (Holland Regatta in Medemblik and a second at the European Championship in Medemblik she finished first position at the Qingdao 2006 International Regatta.[1]
A total of seven yngling sailors were selected to aim and qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Mulder and her team mates became 4th at the World Championship in Cascais. Furthermore she became second in the Breitling Regatta, first in Medemblik at the Dutch national Championships and second at the European Championship in Warnemunde in 2007.[1] In 2008 there was a first place in the Olympic Class Regatta of Miami and a 13th position at the World Championship, also held in Miami.[1]
In July 2008 national coach Maurice Paardekooper selected Mulder, Annemieke Bes and Merel Witteveen as the trio that will form the Dutch yngling boat at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Marije Faber, Renee Groeneveld, Marije Kampen and Brechtje van der Werf were not chosen in the team.[2]
