Annemieke Marileen Bes (born
March 16 ,1978 inGroningen ) is a Dutch sailor.Bes started sailing in 1990 and competes in international level since 2001 where she started in the 470 class. Petronella de Jong andAnnelies Thies became second in the Princess Sofia Trophy inPalma de Mallorca . The following year she finished fifth at the SPA Regatta inMedemblik as well as fourth in the pre-Olympic event inAthens . During the World Championships only a 19th position was the maximum result. 2004 proved to be a much more successful year and they won the Athens Eurolymp Week as well as the Princess Sofia Trophy. They sailed to a 7th position at the World Championships inSantander and a 6th position at the SPA Regatta, which earned them a spot at the2004 Summer Olympics . In Athens Bes, De Jong and Thies reached 56 points and ended up on the 4th position, just outside of the medals. Later that year they disappointed by becoming second at the Dutch national championships.Bes decided to have a
sabbatical yngling year and switched to theLaser Radial class for 2005 in which she participated in both the European Championship inSplit (35th) as well as the World Championship inFortaleza (13th) without much success. Back in the yngling she came to the 11th position at the European Championship in Medemblik, but during the Holland Regatta in the same city she finished in 5th position. At the World Championship inLa Rochelle the result was a 9th position. A total of seven yngling sailors were selected to aim and qualify for the2008 Summer Olympics inBeijing . Bes and her team mates became 4th at the World Championship inCascais . Furthermore she became second inQingdao at the Pre-Olympics, 2nd at the Dutch national championship, 4th at the European Championship inWarnemunde in 2007. In 2008 there was a third place in the Olympic Class Regatta ofMiami and an 18th position at the World Championship, also held in Miami.In July 2008 national coach
