Juventud Independiente is a Salvadoran football club. The team currently based in San Juan Opico, El Salvador.

They gained promotion from Segunda División de Fútbol Salvadoreño after beating San Salvador F.C. 4-2 in the play-off series. This their greatest achievement in the club history achieving promotion for the first after three failed attempt.

History

The Beginning

The team history began in 1940, when Vicente Rocha emblematic person in the community.Decided to begin an elaborate health project for the young people in his community and realised that forming a football would help in his ideas.He shared his vision with a group of people which included Vicente Trujillo and Benjamín Hernández.After time spent building management and organizing the cost of running a football team they baptized the club as a union.The club recruited their players from the local schools and due to the age of their players being under the set limit, they were registered in the Liga burocrática (the Lowest Level in the footballing system).Nevertheless the team was officially born on the 7 September, 1943 and because they signed the official document in the Ministerio del Interior, the team leaders decided to name the club Juventud Independiente in representation of both the youth players and the historic building where the club was born.Vicente Rocha become the team first president and the team began to play their games in San Juan Opico region, despite a team Fuerte Cuscatleco already being based their, the community supported Juventud Independiente.One the team main players during this peroid was Casto de Jesús Flores, who was one of the first players to sign for the club.The club battled hard by the early 70's they hard reached tercera división and the segunda división.

During the war

The civil war that occurred in El Salvador during the 1980s, Affected Juventud Independiente structure as players fled the country and the sheer danger of watching put of the fans in supporting their team.An example of such events, occurred in 1989 just before a promotion playoff against San Rafael Cedros.A major offensive had been launched and many players fled the country causing Juventud Independiente to lose the match.However the team fortune were beginning to change during the early nineties the team were able to recruit better players and were able defeat their rivals to avoid demotion.

Rebuilding

During the decades of the nineties, the team began to grow and were able to reach segunda división for the first time in several years after defeating C.D. Juventud Olímpica Metalío 5-1 on aggregate.The team directive decided to form a football school in 1994, the desire and aim was to provide a strong basis for the senoir team and improve the standards of their young players.however during this peroid the team descended back to the tercera división.After community election in 1997, Romeo Barillas was elected and began programs and projects to support team.Barillas first move was to sign Ramon Sanchez, who had just finished coaching C.D. Arcense.Ramon Sanchez worked hard with the young players of Juventud Independiente and eventual reached the promtoin playoff although losing on the first attempt, the team was able to win on their second attempt and allowed the team to be promoted to the segunda división and began the emergence of young stars Henry López and Carlos Asprilla.After securing a spot in the segunda división they were able to sign foreigns players such as Rodrigo Lagos, Fainor Viáfara and Carlos Escalante.In 2004/2005 season they were able to reach to semi final but were eliminated by Coca Cola.In 2006/2007 season they were able to make the final however the team lost out Nejapa F.C. and lost promotion/relegation playoff against Once Municipal.Ramon Sanchez left the club after agreeing to terms with primera division club C.D. Chalatenango.Ramon sanchez ten year reign had ome to end, the team decided on Jorge Ábrego as coach and despite losing automatic qualification to the primera division, they were able to defeat San Salvador F.C. in the promotion/relegation playoff and qualify for the primera division for the first time in the club history.
