Ryan Taylor is an American professional wrestler, who is currently working for several independent wrestling promotions on the west coast of the United States. He is best known for his work with NWA Pro and Empire Wrestling Federation

When Ryan Taylor came to the EWF, he wanted his name known and his voice heard. On October 9, 2004; Ryan Taylor made his debut in the EWF taking on Liger Rivera. The match displayed Ryan's technical skills and arial abilities but he lost the match to Liger Rivera.

Ryan Taylor gaven himself the nickname The Firebird in late 2004. During 2005, Taylor maded an impact in the cruiserweight division in his quest for the Cruiserweight title. On December 23, 2005; prior to his match against Ron Kilbourn the cocky Taylor announced that he would no longer be known as The Firebird and his new nickname would be The So-Cal Kid. Ron Kilbourn really didn’t care what Taylor’s new name was and dispensed with him in less than five minutes with his destructive “Dealing of the With” finisher.

Ryan's quest for the EWF Cruiserweight title began on Taylor has made an impact in the cruiserweight division with his first singles match of the year against, the “Tijuana Sensation,” X-Torm. Suavecito issued a challenge at "Zero Tolerance" that his new protégé, X-Torm, would beat any cruiserweight the EWF could serve up. The So-Cal Kid answered the challenge, which led to a fast paced match-up. Ryan Taylor scored several near pin falls, and the action was back and forth. Ultimately, X-Torm had the upper hand because of the devious Suavecito in his corner. After two consecutive losts, Ryan was determined to show the EWF fans he was the best in the Cruiserweight division and he deserved to wear the Cruiserweight title. On March 12, 2006; Taylor has been putting some awesome matches together as of late, and tonight he would face a much bigger man. Taylor made quick work of The Bruiser and looked to be a man possessed. Early on, it appeared as if Dave might have had the young cruiserweight scouted, dodging a tilt-a-whirl head scissors and putting Taylor in a sticky situation. However, Taylor would not be denied, as he executed several stiff legs to The Bruiser’s abdomen and groin area. With his opponent incapacitated, Taylor made quick work of him nailing a vicious rolling centon for the victory. On March 19, 2006; Ryan Taylor got his first shot at the EWF Cruiserwight Champion Joey Harder in a title match. Taylor went on the offensive early on, which caused Harder to rethink his strategy. He threw Taylor to the outside and began to work his legs to ground the high flyer. Harder Powerbombed Taylor to the mat and attempted a monsault to put away his opponent, but Taylor moved out of the way. With Harder down, Taylor would try to make a comeback. At the EWF's "10th Anniversary Extravaganza" on May 14, 2006; The So-Cal Kid Ryan Taylor got a second opportunity to challenge Joey Harder for the Cruiserweight Title. This match proved to be a non-disappointing sequel to their last meeting in El Monte, California. These two had each other well scouted from beginning to end, countering every move they threw at each other. Ryan seemed to be at the top of his game this time around and had the right tools to end the impressive winning streak and title reign of Joey Harder. Harder catches Ryan off guard with a Boston Crab which looked like it could be the end, and sure enough, it was. Harder raises his hands in victory and celebrates another successful title defense until it was announced that the match went to a time limit draw. Ryan Taylor never submitted which sent Joey Harder's temper off the map. The So-Cal Kid Ryan Taylor would get a third shot at the Cruiserweight Title on May 28, 2006 at the second night of EWF's "Memorial Mayhem". This match went to the 20 minute time limit with neither man being able to get a pin or submission. Since the match was a draw, once again Joey Harder retains the Cruiserweight title and Ryan leaves the ring empty handed.

The So-Cal Kid did not have to wait long for another match against Joey Harder in his quest to win the EWF Cruiserweight Championship. His fourth match against the champion came at EWF's "The Covina Classic" on June 9, 2006. At EWF's "Premium" on December 1, 2006; Ryan Taylor proved he would accept anyones challenge when he took on larger 240 pound, Karl “Machine Gun” Anderson in a non-title match. Ryan Taylor did not underestimate his larger than usual opponent. After a hard chop in the corner from Anderson, Taylor became more intent on winning and less on his opponent’s size. Despite Taylor’s actions they weren’t enough to keep the big man down. In the end, both men fought each other, periodically hitting their finishing maneuvers to try to end the match. Ryan made quick work to win back the EWF Cruiserweight Championship by ending Markous Riots reign after only 22 days. At EFW's "Meltdown", Taylor forced Riot to submit to win back the title.
