Kim Bồng woodworking village

Kim Bồng village (literally: kim: yellow, bồng: floating named after a story said that Hoi An people living on the other side of Thu Bồn river looked at this village and saw a lot of floating yellow jackfruit wood there, old name: Kim Bồng Châu) which is located in Cẩm Kim commune, Hội An city, Quảng Nam province is famous for its traditional woodworking products. Establised in the 15th century, it reached its peak in the 18th century, during which time its villagers contributed mainly to build sophisticated Hội An, the world's Cultural heritage and supplied ships and "ghe bầu" for the activities of the busy commercial port of Hội An.
