Holy Catholic Church--Western Rite

The Holy Catholic Church--Western Rite (HCC-WR) is a Continuing Anglican church body with branches in Europe, South Africa and Latin America.

In 1991-92 a split in the Anglican Catholic Church resulted in the formation of the Anglican Church in America and the international communion to which it belongs, the Traditional Anglican Communion (TAC). The Holy Catholic Church (Anglican Rite) was created by a separation from from both of these in 1997. Then in 1999 it divided into the Holy Catholic Church (Anglican Rite) and the Holy Catholic Church - Western Rite. In 2005 full communion was established between the HCC-WR and the HCC(AR). The Holy Catholic Church - Western Rite considers itself one of a family of Catholic churches which maintain the faith of the ancient and undivided Catholic church. This church asserts that although it is a Continuing Anglican church, it represents, by its beliefs, the "path back to true Catholic unity through Anglicanism." [http://www.holycatholicchurch-wr.org/page11.html] Although the HCC-WR does not ordain women as deacons or priests, it does have an active order of Deaconesses. The Bishop Ordinary of the HCC-WR's Diocese of Europe is the Rt. Reverend Michael M. Wright of the United Kingdom. The Bishop Ordinary of the Anglican Diocese of the Caribbean and New Grenada is the Rt. Reverend Victor Manuel Cruz Blanco of Columbia. This diocese claims a direct connection to Bishop Albert Arthur Chambers of the Episcopal Church in the USA who in 1978 consecrated the first bishops for the Continuing Anglican movement. The Diocese's jurisdiction includes Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Peru and Bolivia, with extra territories of Spain and Texas. [http://diocesisanglicanadelcaribeylanuevagranada.webs.com] The Rt. Reverend Samuel M. Banzana of Port Elizabeth, Republic of South Africa, is the Holy Catholic Church-Western Rite's Bishop Ordinary for Southern Africa.
