Marshall attended
Wright State University where he played on the men’s soccer team from 2001 to 2004. In 2002, he spent the collegiate off season with theDayton Gemini in the fourth divisionPremier Development League . In January 2005, the Vancouver Whitecaps selected Marshall in theUSL First Division draft. Dallas selected Marshall in the third round (27th overall) of the2005 MLS SuperDraft . Marshall was a regular with the junior Canadian national teams. In 2003, he was a member of the Canadian soccer team which went to the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Youth Championship.
