Badger Pot

Badger Pot

Badger Pot and Pidgeon Pot are two turloughs found beside each other in the Karst topography between Cuilcagh Mountain and Florencecourt Forest Park, Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.

They are sourced from small rivers which, at each pot, sink below ground. Under low flow conditions these sinks are catchments to the underground river of the "Cascades" cave system. This river in turn feeds into the Cladagh River at Cladagh Glen before ultimately discharging into Upper Lough Erne. In times of high flow conditions, Badger Pot and Pidgeon Pot overflow into the hydrological catchment for the Shannon Pot suggesting that the latter may once have had a substantially larger catchment area.
