WWHN began its broadcasting activities on
September 14 ,1987 as acommunity radio station serving just the southwestern Chicago suburbs. OnNovember 30 ,1989 , Raymond and Tornelia Hawkins acquired ownership of WWHN and a year later has petitioned theFederal Communications Commission to increase wattage to 1,000 in order to compete in a large market. Since1990 , it has maintained its current gospel format. The Hawkins' petitioned again with the FCC to increase its wattage to 1,500; giving WWHN a denser signal in the area, however according to the FCC database, the application did not go through. WWHN proclaims that their signal coverage is the best of any urban station in the Chicago market.External links
