Salem Hills

The Salem Hills are located west and southwest of Salem, Oregon, United States, between the southern neighborhoods of the city and the Willamette River.

Geography

The hills stretch from near downtown in the northwest, around to near Independence, and southeast to Turner and Interstate 5, with a large forest on the west slope covering 5-10 square miles and ranging from about half a mile to about two miles wide, and 10 miles long.

The east slope of the hills is mostly covered with farmland and vineyards. It is an important wine grape growing region.
