- M40 corridor
The M40 corridor is a term used to describe the area adjacent to the
M40 motorway , running throughEngland . It is one of the main routes betweenLondon andBirmingham , the other being that followed by theM1 motorway .The term also applies to rail, as the
Chiltern Main Line also runs in the same area between the two cities. The route taken by the railway line closely follows the motorway except for the central section where the railway does not serveOxford . Unlike the motorway, theChiltern Main Line stretches deep into both cities.Route
The area followed by the M40 includes southern
Buckinghamshire , easternOxfordshire and central/southernWarwickshire . Despite servingLondon andBirmingham , the M40 does not enter either cites, instead other roads/motorways continue onwards (e.g the A40 continues right intocentral London ).outh
