After the competition, Paderina (silver) and Georgian veteranNino Salukvadze (bronze) posed together, showing the world that their friendship was unaffected by the newly broken-out war in South Ossetia, which only a day earlier had threatened Salukvadze's participation in the Olympics; Salukvadze took the opportunity to take a stand for a peaceful solution.
