Charles Hosmer Morse (September 23, 1833–May 5, 1921) was founder of Fairbanks-Morse corporation, co-founder of the city of Winter Park, Florida and one of the founders and first trustees of Rollins College.[1]
Morse was born at St. Johnsbury, Vermont.[2] He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1850. Shortly after graduation he joined his uncle, Zelotus Hosmer, in the Boston office of E. & T. Fairbanks, marketing platform scales. He was promoted to the New York office, and then to Chicago. He established the firm of Fairbanks, Morse & Company in 1866. In the 1880s, he became one of the earliest residents of Winter Park, Florida, and retired there permanently in 1915.
