Kollel Ohr Yosef is a kollel, for young married Orthodox men located in Thornhill, Ontario. It is a Community Kollel, meaning that it reaches out to the community by inviting members of the community to learn with the Kollel men. In addition, the members of the kollel also engage in, classic in-depth Talmudic study during the hours of the day when most of the community members are busy at work. It was established in October 2007, and is lead by Rabbi Avraham Bitterman. It is currently housed in the BAYT, as per it's 2-year contract. The kollel has, in it's short time in Thornhill, changed the face of Jewish Thornhill [http://www.jewishtribune.ca/tribune/PDF/jt011108.pdf Jewish Tribune Article] .

Opposition

The Kollel faced some Opposition [http://www.jewishtribune.ca/TribuneV2/content/view/165/37/ Article in Jewish Tribune] , as it first started, but the matter was soon sorted out by the BAYT board of directors. Many people were appeased, and embraced the new kollel [http://www.jewishtribune.ca/tribune/PDF/jt011108.pdf Second article in the same paper]

The "kollel" is named in honor of Joseph Tanenbaum, a philanthropist who built many Toronto organisations, including the BAYT.One of the yeshivos in the city has night seder for some of their talmidim at the kollel nightly
