2001"Please Stay" is a pop music song written by Australian singer Kylie Minogue, Richard Stannard, Julian Gallagher and John Themis for Minogue's seventh album "Light Years" (2000). It was produced by Richard Stannard and Julian Gallagher. The song was released as the fourth single in the winter of 2000 (see 2000 in music) and was a top ten hit in the United Kingdom, peaking at number ten, becoming Minogue's twentieth top ten hit. In Australia the song reached number fifteen on the ARIA Singles Chart, shipping over 35,000 copies, being certified gold.ref|Ozsales

Minogue's record label's decision to release the Latin sounding song as a single angered many of her fans who preferred the song "Your Disco Needs You".(the song would be released the following month but would only be made available in select territories). By way of compensation, it was announced that the single would be re-recorded by Minogue and 7th District would remix it. However, this version of the song was scrapped for sounding too 'idustial' (it would later turn up on the UK Light Years album re-release) and instead a slightly remixed version of the album cut was used.
