Founded in 1961, Kidney Research UK is the leading UK charity funding research that focuses on the prevention, treatment and management of kidney disease. The charity also dedicates its work to improving patient care and raising awareness of kidney disease.

According to Kidney Research UK, the charity's vision is: "A world free from kidney disease".Its stated mission is to fund its research into kidney disease, to improve the quality of life of those with the kidney disorders and to increase public awareness of kidney health.

Research

According to the Charity's web site, the donations are used for the following;
* improving an understanding of kidney disease, its causes, prevention and treatment
* supporting its scientists
* investing in training of a new generation of medical researchers
* investing in clinical trials
* providing Kidney Health Information
* raising awareness of kidney disease
* improving patient care.

Awareness

Kidney Research UK are one of the UK charities who take part in World Kidney Day each year to try and raise awareness of the rising threat of kidney disease. Kidney Health Information

Kidney Research UK provides a Kidney Health Information service for kidney patients, their families and carers, as well as medical professionals and researchers. The service is provided by Kidney Research UK and the information is available to everyone at no charge.

Funding

Kidney Research UK depends on the support of the general public to generate income for funding its research.Kidney Research UK currently has over £7 million invested in 75 research projects in an effort to find a cure for kidney disease.

Events

One area of fundraising which generates income for the charity is its events programme. Other fundraising events include overseas challenges and abseils.
