Switzerland and SF 1 will internally select a singer to represent Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in July 2008. Until October 20 SF invites artists and authors to submit their proposals for Moscow. An SF jury will select the entry for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. Artists and authors are not obliged to be Swiss citizens.

Artists rumoured to participate in the selection are Marquess and Sina. Emel Aykanat will also send in a song for the selection. She was approached to take part in the 2004 Swiss selection, but then SF decided to send their Musicstar-candidates. She was also the Swiss spokesperson in the Eurovision 2004.

At Eurovision

Since Switzerland is not one of the "Big Four" and is not the host of the 2009 contest, it will have to compete in one of the two semi-finals.
