- KEEF-TV
KEEF-TV Channel 68 was a short-lived
television station inLos Angeles ,California . In1983 , theFCC authorizedBlack Television Workshop to construct a non-commercial TV station on Channel 68 in the Los Angeles area. KEEF-TV did not start broadcasting until early1987 (originally as KDDE-TV), but was shut down only months later by the FCC's Mass Media Bureau. The Bureau alleged that the station had violated their permits by using different antennas and antenna height than in their agreement. Later, other questions about the broadcaster arose, and in1993 Black Television Workshop's permit was revoked.According to an article appearing the
Los Angeles Times Calendar section, unsuccessful efforts were made in the early 1990s to restart Channel 68 as a Hispanic Christian TV station. Today, Channel 68 is being utlized by KRCA-DT (KRCA-TV operates on analog Channel 62) Riverside/Los Angeles. This, plus the fact that channels 52 through 69 will no longer be used for television broadcasting after February 2009, means that the allocation of channel 68 in Los Angeles has now been removed by the FCC.Channel 68 was used previously (in 1974) for another non-commercial station,
KVST-TV (Viewer Sponsored Television Foundation). KVST lasted less than two years (May 1974 to December 1975).External links
