James Bayley (Australian politician)

James Garfield Bayley (26 March 1882 – 14 January 1968) was an Australian politician. Born in Franklin, Tasmania, he moved to Queensland as a child. He was educated at Brisbane Grammar School and at Stanford University in the United States. He returned to Australia as a teacher and eventually a school principal. In 1917, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Nationalist member for Oxley. He held the seat until his defeat in 1931. In 1933, he was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly as the member for Wynnum, representing the Country and Progressive National Party. He held Wynnum until 1935.
