"Bluebird" is the name of various cars and boats used by Malcolm Campbell, Donald Campbell and others to set water and land speed records.

Crawford, "Campbell, Sir Malcolm (1885–1948)", "Oxford Dictionary of National Biography", Oxford University Press, Sept 2004; online edn, May 2006 [http://www.oxforddnb.com/view/article/32271, accessed 25 July 2008] ] and the vehicles were painted a shade of pale blue.
