Thomas Francis Gilroy (June 3, 1840 – December 1, 1911), born in Ireland, was mayor of New York 1893-94 and Commissioner of Public works 1889-93. He was also a member of Tammany Hall. He had a daughter, Frances E. Gilroy, who married Edward A. Maher, Jr.[1] He died on December 1, 1911 at his home on Ocean Avenue, Far Rockaway, Long Island and he was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.[2]
