The Nashville Sounds' by|1994 season was the franchise's seventeenth year of play. The team finished the regular season with a record of 83 wins and 61 losses. They finished second in the league, as the the American Association was not divided into divisions that year, which secured them a spot in the post-season picture. In post-season play, the team had four wins and three losses. They won the league semi-finals, but were defeated in the league championship series.

Scott Ruffcorn was awarded the Allie Reynolds Award for Pitcher of the Year. ["Nashville Baseball History." Denson led the league in RBI (103) and home runs (30). Durham led the league with 261 total bases; he also tied with fellow Sounds player Gary Thurman for the most triples with 12. Durham also paced second basemen in the league with a .973 fielding percentage as did catcher Clemente Alvarez (.998) and pitcher Steve Schrenk (1.000, 45 TC). Ruffcorn had more wins (13) than any other pitcher. He was also involved in a two-way tie for the best winning percentage (.833, 15–3) and the most shutouts (2).
