Beverly Affordable Housing Coalition

The Beverly Affordable Housing Coalition, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Beverly, Massachusetts.

Mission

The Coalition was founded in 2000. According to the organization's mission statement, "the BAHC is dedicated to increasing the availability of quality housing for low- to moderate-income families and individuals in Beverly." [ [http://beverlyaffordablehousing.org/index.htm Beverly Affordable Housing Coalition ] ] To date, the Coalition has purchased and preserved 91 units of affordable housing in the city.

Current Projects

As of July 2008, the Coalition is undertaking two projects totaling 108 units of affordable rental housing.

The Cabot Street Homes, to replace the 34-unit Mayflower Motel rooming house at the gateway to downtown Beverly, will be developed into a 43-unit "green" studio apartment building. The Coalition is pursuing LEED-Homes certification for the project. Construction is expected to start in early 2009.

The Holcroft Park Homes will replace 41 units of rental housing in 11 properties in the Gloucester Crossing neighborhood with 65 units of affordable rental housing in six new buildings.
