Brief Introduction
The Fayette Family YMCA, known as Camp Deerpoint, is a 29-acre outdoor
YMCA facility located in Fayetteville, GA. It features programs for children throughout the year, but its largest program is asummer camp that runs from May to August.It is typically a mixture of veteran and rookie staff who run the camp. Accident reports come in by the thousands each summer from various injuries.
History
The Fayette Family YMCA was created in 1987 and had its first summer camp the next year in 1988. In 1993 Camp Deerpoint was permanently moved to its current location, 215 Huiet Road. Records have been established at the Y, including, Barine's Log; various legendary pranks each year, and some of the most intense paintball action ever.
Summer Camp
Summer Camp is the Fayette Family YMCA's largest and most successful program. Typically there are about 200-250 campers each week at the day camp. The ages of the children range from 5-14. The kids are broken into groups of 10-20 children by age and are assigned to 1-3 Counselors.
Activities include, but are not limited to, Gatorball, Archery, BB Guns, Canoeing, Dodgeball, Baseball, Soccer, Football, Tag Games, Building Forts in the Woods, taking care of goats and sheep, Arts and Crafts, Sandbox activities, and use of the 1 acre wooden play park outside the main gate.
