- Gary Harron
Gary Arthur Harron is a politician and administrator in
Ontario ,Canada .He was raised in
Bruce County, Ontario , and received a diploma from theOntario Agricultural College (later theUniversity of Guelph ). After graduation, he worked on his family farm and managed a general store. He became a councillor in Amabel Township in1969 and served on the council for fourteen years, including twelve as reeve. In1978 , he became warden of Bruce County.Harron first campaigned for the
Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 1975 provincial election as a candidate of the Progressive Conservative Party, and lost to Liberal incumbentEddie Sargent by 5,964 votes inGrey—Bruce . He campaigned again in the 1981 election, and lost to LiberalMurray Elston by 224 votes inHuron—Bruce .Harron was appointed to the Niagara Escarpment Commission upon its creation, and was a member for ten years. He was also appointed to the Ontario Municipal Board in
1982 by the government ofBill Davis , and subsequently served on several environmental commissions.
