Susan Jacks

Susan Jacks (born Susan Pesklevits in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, 19 August 1948) is a Canadian singer/songwriter.

Jacks was one-half of the duo The Poppy Family, which had a number of hits in the late 1960s and early 1970s. "Which Way You Goin' Billy?" sold close to 3 million copies worldwide, hitting No. 1 in Canada and No. 2 in the U.S. (#1 on the Cash Box chart, which was as respected at the time.) In 1973, Jacks parted ways with her husband Terry Jacks ("Seasons in the Sun") and set off on a solo career. When her album "Dream" came out in 1975, one of her solo singles charted in the U.S., "You're A Part Of Me" in 1975 (the song was a bigger hit the following year for the duo of Kim Carnes and Gene Cotton). She continued to have hits in Canada with songs including the Juno nominated "Anna Marie," "You Don't Know What Love Is," "I Thought Of You Again," and "Love Has No Pride". Her 1980 Canadian hit "All The Tea In China" was nominated for Canada's Juno Awards that year, and was from the album "Ghosts". The track was included on the 1980 K-tel LP compilation, "Hit List". In 1982 her album "Forever" was released.

In 1977, Jacks met former Saskatchewan Roughriders football player Ted Dushinski. They married by 1980 and had a son, Thad. The couple moved to Nashville in 1983 where she recorded the Juno nominated song "Tall Dark Stranger". She became a staff songwriter for a Nashville Publishing company and has had several songs recorded, including one recorded on a grammy nominated children's album. " [She] then went on to manage a publishing company before becoming Executive V.P. and part owner of a telecommunications company in Nashville." Susan and her family returned to the Vancouver area in 2004 and has resumed her performing career. She is also a consultant for [http://instn.com/ INS Entertainment] and works with artists in the studio as a performance consultant. Her second husband, Ted Dushinski, Hall of Fame football player for the CFL (Canadian Football League) Saskatchewan Roughriders, died on October 24th, 2005 at the age of 61, following a battle with lung cancer.
