Plot outline

After being fired from KACL, and true to Niles' predictions, Frasier goes through a grief cycle while coming to terms with his loss. The five stages are listed in the title cards. In stage one, he starts numerous personal projects (composing an operetta, writing a novel, cooking, etc) while waiting for the work to roll in; in stage two, he assaults a piñata at a picnic; in stage three, he prays for resolution, and tries to rally his fan club; in stage four, he starts over-eating. When he reaches the final stage, Niles announces that he expects his divorce to go well for him, and the cycle seems to begin again.
