A unit of theNational Defense University (NDU), it is located at Fort McNair,Washington, DC . As a trustedwho voice in the information resource management community, the IRM College is recognizedwho for its excellentgraduate-level programs,faculty , and services that provide a strategic advantage for today’s military and civilian leaders in theUnited States Department of Defense and acrossgovernment . The Senior Director of the IRM College, Robert Childs, provides strategic direction and vision for all faculty, staff, and students. The Dean of Faculty and Academic Programs, Elizabeth McDaniel, oversees faculty, curriculum, and instruction. The Dean of Students and Administration, Russell Quirici, oversees operational support for the College.History
In 1976, the
Industrial College of the Armed Forces and theNational War College were brought into one jointeducational institution when theNational Defense University became a historic pooling of the defense community's intellectual resources. In addition to facilitating learning through classes, courses, and programs, the IRM College responds to workforce learning needs ofgovernment organizations in areas corresponding with faculty competence. If agencies and other government organizations request tailoredworkshops , expertperspectives , and practical advice that aligns with the corecompetencies of the College and the courses offered, faculty may be deployed to work with agencies on a case-by-case basis. IRM College faculty members have backgrounds in theprivate sector , civilian government anddefense , andacademe , contributing a rich combination of experience and theory that enhancesour learning environment. Although by mission the IRM College is primarily a teaching college,faculty are active in manyintellectual communities becausescholarship isconcomitant to goodteaching.Federal Consortium for Virtual Worlds

Federal Consortium for Virtual Worlds is a newly formed group of federal government employees andcontractors interested in exploring the use ofvirtual worlds in government, sharingbest practices andpolicies , creating sharedrepositories , andnetworking [.
