Adopt a Sailor

Adopt a Sailor

"Adopt a Sailor" is a program offered by the USO [http://www.uso.org] . Anyone can adopt a sailor while he is on shore leave. You can offer to feed him a home-cooked meal, do his laundry or offering a home away from home. Adopt a sailor understands the sacrifices that service members and their families make for this country, and it is more important than ever that they are supported. The USO offers a variety of programs and services that support the morale, welfare, social and entertainment needs of American service men and women and their families.

"Adopt a Sailor" the movie...written and directed by Charles Evered tells the story about all the things we have in common. Philosophy and political affiliation drop away when three people who are very different become human beings to one another. A sailor is inadvertently adopted by an extremely narcissistic couple during Fleet Week in New York City. Throughout the course of the evening they become human to one another through proximity. And all the commotion, the money, the talent and ambition and risks that comprise the moviemaking ritual are, ideally, dedicated to the same task. Bringing audience, actors and characters together, and making us human to one another. The film stars Bebe Neuwirth ("Cheers"), Peter Coyote ("E.T." "Erin Brockovich") and the grandson of Gregory Peck, Ethan Peck. [http://www.adoptasailormovie.com]
