The Tun Salahuddin Bridge (Formerly Tanah Puteh Bridge) MES-E|24 is the first and the only toll bridge expressway in the East Malaysia. Located at Kuching city, Sarawak, Malaysia, the bridge which is the second bridge over Sarawak River was officially opened on 21 September 2003. It was named after the current Sarawak's state Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor), Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng.

Overview

The 6-lane, dual-deck Tun Salahudin Bridge is an elegant, low-level bridge over the Sarawak River that affords an unrestricted view of the river in both directions.

This bridge is a multi-span, pre-stressed concrete, 339 metres long, 28 metres wide, with a 325-metre embankment. It has a 1.5-metre central median and a granolithic pedestrian lane on either side, each 1.5 metres wide.

History

Construction began on 2002. The bridge project was undertaken by Zecon Engineering Sdn Bhd which took over from Zalpoint Corporation Sdn Bhd in March 2003. It was completed on August 2003.
