Arniston House

Arniston House

Arniston House is a historic house in Midlothian, Scotland, UK, near Temple, off the A7 Edinburgh to Galashiels road, then the B6372, signposted "Temple".

This Georgian mansion was designed by William Adam, built between 1726 and 1750 for Robert Dundas, Lord Arniston, the elder, the Lord President of the Court of Session, and completed by John Adam, brother of Robert Adam.

The parkland was designed by Capability Brown, and there are family portraits by Sir Henry Raeburn and Allan Ramsay.

The house is still occupied by members of the Dundas family who, in the summer months, open the house to the public and lead guided tours.
