Daphne finds an
engagement ring in Martin's underwear drawer, and cannot resist telling Frasier and Niles. They are slightly shaken at the idea of Sherry taking their mother's place, but they agree that their father's happiness is most important to them. Soon afterwards, Sherry tells Martin that someone has been asking questions about her at McGinty's, and Martin immediately thinks his sons have hired aprivate investigator to check up on her. They deny it, but Frasier realises that Niles is guilty, and insists that he call off the investigation. He does this, but the detective presents him with a half-finished report before departing, which the brothers read and discover that Sherry has been married before, six times. This worries them, but they decide to find out if Martin knows. Of course, so far he is not even aware that they know about the ring…Episode title cards

The episode title is taken from a
blues standard called "Ain't Nobody's Business ". The original words are “ain’t nobody’s business if we do”, and here the substitution “I do” is made, referring to the traditional declaration made at awedding by bride and groom.Memorable Quotations
"Daphne has just told Niles and Frasier about discovering the ring"Niles: Do you know what that means?Frasier: "(ruefully)" Yes! We’re going to hear what Mendelssohn’s "Wedding March" sounds like on the
banjo !"Frasier is trying to establish whether Martin knows about Sherry’s previous marriages, by telling a falsified
anecdote "Frasier: You know, Dad, I think it all hearkens back to the puritanical streak that still runs through this country. What do you think?Martin: There's a yakkety-yak streak that runs through this family.
