customcommons=Broad Street is a thirty block long throughfare in
Augusta, Georgia . It is one of the widest urban streets in the world.Fact|date=July 2008 It serves as the main street of Augusta. It sees about 10,000 cars a day. All of the city's high rises and mid-rises are located along this street, with the exeption of a high risecondominium complex andpublic housing buildings.Routing
Broad Street begins at the Calhoun Expressway at a simple ½
diamond interchange by Lake Olmstead. It then passes through the historic Ninth Ward (Harrisburg). It then crosses theAugusta Canal (circa 1845), and then crosses theCSX railroad. Once it intersects 15th Street, it takes on a unique lane combination (a convert|30|ft|m|sing=on wide median, three traffic lanes and aparallel parking lane on both sides). At Thirteenth Street (Georgia State Route 4 ), it drops the shady median in favor of double-sided median parking. At Eleventh Street, it gets rid of the open parking in the median and picks up a shady, submerged parking pit in the median. This is Broad Street at its widest point. On the sixth block of Broad Street, a government building can be found in the median. At Gordon Highway, there is a ⅜cloverleaf interchange . That is where Broad Street picks upGeorgia State Route 28 . Broad Street reduces to 2 lane divided street with parking on the sides. It gains a convert|40|ft|m|sing=on wide, shady median. Broad Street draws to a close at E. Boundary Street.Places on Broad Street
