The Washington Post "] Originally, the game was developed by Nate True for "jailbroken" (or hacked) iPhones and iPod Touches, and was called Tap Tap Revolution, after theDance Dance Revolution series. Tapulous bought the game from True, and added features such as online tournaments, leader boards, and multi-player mode to the game. Tapulous hired a team of "all-star" game developers to work the game on$ 1.8 million in raised funds. In October 2008, Tapulous announced that they were working on a
Nine Inch Nails -branded version of Tap Tap Revenge, including a special Nine Inch Nails skin and 16 songs from the band's albumsGhosts I-IV and The Slip (album), some of which would be specially edited for the game.
