SDI Media is the world's leading provider of subtitling, translation, and language dubbing services to the entertainment industry. The headquarters are located in Culver City, Los Angeles. Other offices and facilities are located in 32 countries (2008) around the globe.

In 1990 the Swedish media company Modern Times Group acquires the majority shareholding in Svensk Text (SDI Media).

In 2004 SDI Media is sold by MTG to Warburg Pincus for US$ 60 million.

In 2007 it was acquired by Elevation Partners, a private equity firm, mainly investing in media and entertainment companies.

Members of SDI Media Group are the European Sun Studio (acquired in 2006), which operates facilities in eight countries and Blackbird Music, a German dubbing company, acquired by the group in 2008.

The translation services are offered in more than 50 languages and include the localization of movies, TV shows, interactive games and other multimedia content.

SDI has more than 750 employees worldwide and a network of more than 4,000 freelance language experts. The group operates 89 recording rooms and 28 mixing rooms worldwide.
